Changes to U.S. Embargo on Cuba and Sanctions on Iran

By George W. Thompson

On May 10, 2016, I gave a luncheon presentation called “Cuba & Iran Sanctions – The Good, the Bad, and the Violations” to the Midwest Global Trade Association in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The topic was recent changes to United States economic sanctions on those two countries.

Because these regulatory changes are complex and have engendered many questions and much confusion, I am providing the one-page summary that I prepared for MGTA. It’s necessarily brief. I hope it gives interested readers a useful introduction to these important trade policy developments.
