Most corporations in the trade and container shipping business have had experiences dealing with Yang Ming Line and Evergreen Line for shipping freight in and out of the US. Not only are those two Taiwanese ocean carriers ranked no. 7 and 9 in the world, but they also account for about 9 to 10 percent of the global container shipping.
Concerning air cargo, US exporters/importers/freight forwarders also often deal with two Taiwan airlines. Based on IATA rankings released several years ago, China Airlines (the Taiwan-based based airline) and Eva Air were ranked no. 7 and No. 9, respectively, in global air cargo volume. (Cathay Pacific, the Hong Kong-based carrier, was no. 1.) Both China Airlines and Eva Air are major players in the trans-Pacific and Eurasia shipping markets.
